Tip #1 - Read The Bible
You can begin Bible study by reading scripture. If you read the scripture that you are doing Bible study about, then you can begin to study the context of scripture.
Tip #2 - Do Bible Study Through The Guidance Of The Holy Spirit
We should study the Bible through the guidance of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit will always tell you the truth since the Holy Spirit never lies. We need to trust in Jesus Christ alone to learn the context of scripture.
Tip #3 - Keep Everything In Context
John 1:1 says that the Bible is the word of God. It is obviously true that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. When we do Bible study, we should keep everything in context, because if you take scripture out of context, then you are twisting scripture. We should do Bible study through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When we look at the context of scripture, we need to learn what the scripture is saying, who the scripture is speaking to, when did it apply, and why it does apply. For example, Romans 6 is saying that you cannot continue to live a life of sin and still be saved, Romans 6 is speaking to the Church today, The warnings against sin apply today, and the reason why it applies is that you can’t trample underfoot the blood of Jesus since you cannot abuse Grace.
Tip #4 - Check Out Other Verses That Have To Do With The Scripture That You’re Studying
If you check out other verses that have to do with the scripture that you’re studying, then you can learn about the context of scripture even more. Remember that you should study the scripture through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, because If you try to do Bible Study without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then you will have a false study due to the study being misguided, taking scripture out of context, and coming to heretical conclusions. Misguided study, taking scripture out of context, and coming to heretical conclusions have led to a multitude of denominations and cults that are laden with heresies. Some infamous examples of denominations or cults that are laden with heresies are The Hebrew Roots Movement, New IFB,
KJV-Onlyism, 7th Day Adventists, Catholicism, Mormonism, Jehovahs Witnesses,
The Sacred Name Movement, etc.
Tip #5 - Take Notes
When learning the context of scripture, you should take notes about the context of scripture. If you do this, then you can read through those notes for the expository part of the Bible Study. You should end the Bible Study by reading through the notes that you wrote or typed for the expository part of Bible Study. We should rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit for clarity. We should also learn if the verse that you’re studying is literal or if the verse that you’re studying uses figurative language.
I hope you find these Bible study tips very helpful. God bless 😎
